Often a sequel just tries to live off the success from the premier. The Fader Boy sequel does far more than that. This book builds on the successful writing from the first Dead Girl, expands on characters and their development, and even expands on the Shadow Lands itself.The writing wholly engrosses the reader to the point when there is an interruption (phone, child, dinner time, etc.) one feels a bit of a physical jolt as your eyes have to leave the Kindle and your mind leaves the story. Remember when you first read Tolkien? When the danger was imminent your heart pounded, when the Ring weighed heavily you felt the same weight. Dare I say I had a similar experience reading this book? A lofty comparison for sure but when the characters are in the Shadow Lands, the reader is there too.
I would recommend this to any teenager, adult, or Sci-Fi movie buff. It is a standalone book but it does build on the original Dead Girl book. I advise to read that one as well.

I chose the rating based on the story keeping me on the edge of my seat. I was very happy the series continued after reading Dead Girl and I hope he is writing a third book! I have read his other books too and they are just as captivating as this series.

Boss continues the adventures of Dahlia along with the rest of her tribe while incorporating a whole new cast of characters and subplots. We finally learn a bit more about how one travels to and from The Shadowlands if they don't happen to be in a coma. I don't want to give too much away, but I sincerely hope there is another installment coming in this series. Many open ends from Dead Girl were resolved, yet we are left with a whole new set of questions by the end of Dead Girl 2. Very fast-paced and an enjoyable read. This one has a bit more of a sci-fi feel than the first. Definitely start with the first book and you won't be able to resist the second...and dare we hope, a third!
